Tim Smith

Dr. Tim S. Smith is a state missionary serving the churches of the Georgia Baptist Convention. He is the Specialist in the Sunday School and Open Group Ministries. He is the primary administrative leader for the staff in the Sunday School and Open Group Ministries. The focus of his work is in assisting pastors, ministers of education, Sunday School directors and other leaders in growing a healthy church. Each year he works with hundreds of churches, associations and other state conventions to strengthen Sunday School. Tim has been with the Georgia Baptist
Convention since 1999.

Prior to coming to the Georgia Baptist Convention he served for 15 years as a minister of education in churches in Georgia and North Carolina. Each church doubled or tripled in attendance during his ministry.

Tim earned his Doctorate of Ministry degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He received the degree of Master of Divinity with Christian Education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. He earned a degree of Bachelor of Science in Education from West Georgia College in Carrollton, Georgia and received an Associate in Arts degree in Religious Studies from Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, Georgia.

He has authored, co-authored or contributed to several resources including;

Tim is a native of Georgia, growing up in Mableton. He and his wife Cathy have two adult children.
